Grief is A Tool Which Defines Us

   

     When grief enters your life it will create a new you.  Much is written about grief and how it effects people.  I believe grief is a tool.  How we choose to use that tool is what will define grief individually.
     I have seen grief destroy a noble soul, sending them to rebellion and a life of unsettled pain; a pain that pushes them farther each day from those they love.  It creates a chasm that separates them from who they are and changes them into strangers even unto themselves.   They become lost and directionless.
     On the other hand, grief can be the instrument that defines who we are; that uncovers the mortal burden of our existence to expose the brilliant radiance of our eternal souls.  Grief has the power to define our purpose and deepen our love - our Christ given gift.  Grief as the unique ability to instill or enhance our sense of empathy; a talent which, when exercised, can change the hearts of men.
     Grief is an unwanted visitor that knocks on every door.  No one escapes the companionship of this dreaded guest.  Most exemplar, our Savior Jesus Christ experienced the grief of all mankind as he bled from every pore to take our pain upon Himself.  See what He became.
     When grief enters your life you will take that tool in your hands and create a new you.  What kind of tool will you allow it to be?
